The Atom

Arts and culture for the progressive element

The Atom began in the spring of 2023 with the purpose of promoting the wide variety of artistic talent and cultural diversity in West Texas. Throughout this region, there are resources and opportunities to discover and interact with visual and performing arts in our communities year-round. There are authors, actors, dancers, designers, filmmakers, illustrators, knitters, musicians, quilters, painters, photographers, set builders, sculptors, songwriters and all kinds of creators at a range of skill levels who contribute to making art and ideas accessible.

The mission of the Atom is to support efforts made by local artists, educators, community organizations and businesses to express broad perspectives and experiences that encourage discussion and progress and to share observations about the social, political and economic impact of art on individuals, neighborhoods, schools and municipalities.
