Charles Adams Gallery is proud to present an exhibit featuring two acclaimed artists with deep ties to Lubbock, Texas. “Memories, Motifs, and Meditations” will include the work of Santa Fe-based painter Paul Milosevich and the prolific, genre-defying artist and curator Jeff F. Wheeler of San Antonio.
Milosevich and Wheeler both spent formative years making art in Lubbock, leaving lasting impressions on the city’s cultural landscape. This exhibition marks the second stop of a traveling show that premiered at No Man’s Land in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
These artists discovered a powerful visual and symbolic thread in their work: both were inspired by mountains. Both artists have also drawn creative energy from historically significant peaks like Cézanne’s beloved Mont Sainte-Victoire and Georgia O’Keeffe’s iconic Pedernal.
Beyond shared motifs, Milosevich and Wheeler found common ground in their love of golf, classic country music and portrayals of the female figure. A broad selection of their work will be on view, offering Lubbock a rare opportunity to experience the breadth of these two distinctive artistic voices.
The opening reception will be held Friday, June 6th from 6to 9 p.m. Both artists will be in attendance and will give an informal talk at 7:30 p.m. Paul Milosevich has stated that this will be his final exhibition in Lubbock.
